What is the ruling on performing ablution (wudu') with water that contains sidr leaves and grated musk, and whose taste and smell have been altered, and how are missed prayers to be made up when their number or times are not remembered?

Scholars have differed regarding purification with water altered by Sidr (lote tree leaves) or other pure substances that are not inherent to water. The majority do not permit this, arguing that it is not considered مطلقًا (absolutely) water, though they have made specific exceptions. As for the second view, which is the opinion of Abu Hanifa, a narration from Ahmad, and preferred by Ibn Taymiyyah, it holds that purification with such water is valid as long as it is still called water. According to the first view, prayers performed with such water must be repeated, whereas according to the second view, no make-up prayers are required. This water is pure in itself, but according to the majority of scholars, it does not purify other things, while others hold that it is a purifying agent as long as it retains its designation as water.
