Is one who watches obscene films considered an adulterer, and one who watches films that mock religion considered a disbeliever, based on the Almighty’s saying: "Indeed, you would then be like them," or does this apply only to those who approve of it and not merely to watching?

Whoever watches films that mock religion or lewd films, if he is pleased with the mockery or the forbidden acts, then he is like them in disbelief or sin. However, if he dislikes that and watches them without a legitimate Shar'i benefit, then he is sinful but not a disbeliever. His sin lies in looking and listening, and he may be considered metaphorically an adulterer by the eye and ear, due to the saying of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him: "So the adultery of the eyes is looking, and the adultery of the ears is listening." And habitually watching evil weakens the heart's disapproval of it.
