What is the ruling on wearing a men's bisht adorned with threads plated with real gold?

If there is a lot of gold in a garment, it is forbidden for males by scholarly consensus. If it is a small amount, scholars have two differing opinions. The Hanafis and a narration from Ahmad permit it if it is the size of four fingers, citing Mu'awiyah's hadith: "The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, forbade the wearing of gold except in fragmented pieces." The Shafi'is, Hanbalis, and Malikis, however, absolutely forbid it, citing the general prohibition against wearing gold and analogizing it to the prohibition of even a small amount in vessels.

The preponderant opinion is the absolute prohibition for men of wearing garments containing any gold, whether it is a lot or a little, due to the generality of the prohibition, and there is no sound specific exception. Furthermore, the argument based on the hadith "except in fragmented pieces" might be specific to women and does not specify four fingers. Also, it is not sound to analogize a small amount of gold to a small amount of silk because the prohibition of gold is more severe. Additionally, it may lead to ostentation and wearing clothes for fame, and it serves as a preventative measure. Based on this, it is not permissible to wear or purchase "bisht" cloaks that contain gold.
