Lack of physical beauty should not deter you from marriage, for what truly matters is the beauty of character, not appearance. Marriage is encouraged by Islamic law and is the tradition of the prophets and messengers. It aims to increase the Muslim community and acquire righteous offspring.

One should hasten to marry when capable. Some scholars obligate a wealthy father to marry off his poor son who needs marriage. However, the majority of scholars hold that the maintenance of an adult son is not obligatory upon his father unless the son is incapacitated, a view that the Hanbalis dissented from. University study expenses are not included in the obligatory maintenance upon the father.
