The inscription of the destinies of creation in the Preserved Tablet (Al-Lawh Al-Mahfuz) is one of the levels of belief in divine decree (Qada’) and destiny (Qadar). The texts of the Quran and Sunnah indicate that Allah inscribed everything in the Preserved Tablet fifty thousand years before He created the heavens and the earth, and that the first thing He created was the Pen, which He commanded to write. This Preserved Tablet has been given numerous names in the Quran, including: The Book (Al-Kitab), The Clear Book (Al-Kitab Al-Mubin), The Clear Imam (Al-Imam Al-Mubin), The Mother of the Book (Umm Al-Kitab), and The Inscribed Book (Al-Kitab Al-Mastur).
