Is it permissible to obey one's husband in matters of birth control, and is it forbidden to become pregnant without his consent, given that I have three daughters and no sons?

The most important objective of marriage is to bear children. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, commanded marriage to the affectionate, prolific woman to increase the numbers of the nations on the Day of Resurrection. A wife has the right to conceive, and her husband may not prevent her from becoming pregnant. Birth control is permissible by agreement between the spouses for the sake of raising children. Complete cessation of procreation is not permissible unless trustworthy doctors confirm that pregnancy poses an imminent danger to the mother's life, and that the cessation of procreation is the only means to avert this danger.
