What is the ruling on returning evil with evil against the Prophet's Household (Ahl al-Bayt) and not forgiving them their transgressions against our rights? And does harming them anger the Prophet (peace be upon him)? And can the Prophet (peace be upon him) hate anyone without a legitimate Shar'i reason?

The virtuous among the Prophet's household are granted additional merit due to their kinship. However, the wrongdoer among them is like any other wrongdoer, and being from the Prophet's household does not exempt them from punishments. At the very least, they are treated like any other person. It is permissible to retaliate against one of them in kind for wrongdoing, though forgiveness, overlooking, and enduring harm are better to preserve the Prophet's (peace be upon him) recommendation concerning his household. Harming people generally, and the Prophet's household specifically, is forbidden. As for the Prophet's (peace be upon him) anger when wrongdoing against them is retaliated against, or when they are not forgiven, or when they are harmed, these are matters of the unseen. The Prophet loved what Allah loved, hated what Allah hated, and became angry when Allah's sacred limits were violated. He ruled with justice and encouraged virtue, forgiveness, and overlooking.
