Is the widespread message that links the Coronavirus (COVID-19) to the verses of Surat Al-Muddaththir: "It neither spares nor leaves anything. It scorches the human beings. Over it are nineteen" and "Leave Me to deal with him whom I created alone, and to whom I granted extensive wealth, and sons present [with him]" correct? And is it permissible to circulate it?

What has been mentioned – that the number "nineteen" refers to the year 2019, that the verse of "An-Naqur" speaks about the Coronavirus, and that naming the virus with this name is forbidden because it is derived from the Qur'an – is a distortion of words from their rightful places and a clear error. The number "nineteen" in Surat Al-Muddathir refers to the guardians of Hell, as indicated by the verses and the interpretation of Al-Tabari. And "An-Naqur" in the Qur'an is the Trumpet that will be blown for the Hour to commence. As for the name "Corona," it has no relation to the word "Qur'an," and the spelling of the two words is different. These interpretations are not based on any legitimate religious or linguistic foundation; rather, they fall under the category of speaking about Allah without knowledge, which is one of the greatest sins.
