How can one respond to a colleague who believes that the reason for the lack of rain is due to climate and weather conditions and has no relation to sins, citing the drought in Makkah and Madinah and the abundance of rain in Abha and the Levant, while objecting to the শরعی (Islamic legal) evidence derived from the words of Noah (peace be upon him): "And I said, 'Ask forgiveness of your Lord. Indeed, He is ever Forgiving. He will send [rain from] the sky upon you in [continual] showers'"? And is he in danger because of this opinion of his?

The reason for rain cessation is sins and transgressions, as Allah the Almighty said: "Corruption has appeared on land and sea by virtue of what people's hands have earned." As it was mentioned in the Hadith (definition), withholding the zakat (definition) due on wealth leads to the cessation of rain from the sky, and were it not for the beasts, they would not receive rain. Prosperity and abundance might also be a gradual enticement from Allah for those who persist in disobedience, to increase their torment on the Day of Judgment, or it might be for the sake of the beasts, not for humans.
