Is it permissible to perform ablution on a body that has a tattoo applied a few days ago?

The ruling on tattooing is that it is forbidden because the Prophet, may Allah’s prayers and peace be upon him, cursed the tatooer and the tattooed. Tattoos are of two types: The first is drawn on the surface of the skin without introducing color beneath it. This is forbidden due to imitation of disbelievers, but it does not affect the validity of ablution. The second type is the traditional tattoo, which involves piercing the skin and injecting dyes. This makes the tattooed area impure due to its mixing with blood, and it must be removed unless harm is feared. If it is not removed, ablution is performed by tayammum (dry ablution) over the tattooed area if it is not covered by flesh. Prayer with it is not valid unless its removal is impossible, and it is valid if it is covered by flesh. Some scholars hold the view that tattoos do not prevent the validity of ablution and prayer because they show the color of impurity, not the impurity itself, and this is the more apparent view. However, one must stay away from it and be wary of it.
