What is the ruling on stealing an iron boundary marker between two plots of land to cause a disruption in measurement and to obscure the land's limits?

He who takes the iron marker that defines the boundaries of the land between two neighbors is an oppressor and a corrupter. If his intention is to add another's property to his own, then he is an even greater oppressor and usurper. A severe warning has been mentioned regarding this; in the Hadith: "May Allah curse whoever steals the landmarks of the earth" and "May Allah curse whoever changes the landmarks of the earth." The landmarks of the earth are the boundary markers that distinguish properties, and whoever changes them, if he adds it to his own property, he is a usurper. If he does not add it, he is an aggressor, an oppressor, and a corruptor of another's property. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Whoever usurps even a span of land, it will be a collar around his neck on the Day of Resurrection, from seven earths."
