What is meant by the statement that the first thing to be lifted from among people is humility?

The first knowledge to be removed is humility (khushu'), and its removal signifies the death of those who possess it. Humility is submissiveness, modesty, and abasement before Allah, the Almighty and Majestic. The removal of humility will occur just before the Hour.
