What is the ruling on working for wages in building or painting the house of a priest or sorcerer?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

If a sorcerer or soothsayer acquires a house to practice magic and divination, it is not permissible to sell or rent it to him, nor to participate in its construction or painting, because it is a place for sin, and Allah has forbidden cooperation in sin and aggression. This includes selling anything intended for unlawful purposes, such as selling juice to someone who will turn it into wine, or renting a house for the sale of wine. However, if the sorcerer acquires the house solely for dwelling and it is known that he will not use it for magic, then its construction and painting are permissible, though it is preferable to avoid this, in order to ostracize and rebuke the sorcerer.
