Is it permissible to portray the companions of the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, in films and plays for the purpose of inviting people to Islam and demonstrating noble character?

The Companions hold a high status in Islam due to the honor of their companionship with the Messenger and their support for him. Allah and His Messenger have praised them. It is forbidden to portray the Companions in films or plays, as this contradicts their high status, exposes them to ridicule and mockery, undermines their standing in the hearts of Muslims, and involves falsehood and backbiting, in addition to opening the door to doubt among Muslims concerning their religion, and other corruptions. This is because the harm of portraying them outweighs any perceived benefit.
