The question

Is it possible for Jinn to be present in the house, and is what I experience—hearing sounds in the kitchen, seeing Jinn in a dream in the form of someone I know, and feeling restricted movement during sleep—due to Jinn, or is it a delusion?

The answer

The presence of jinn in homes is possible, and among the protective measures that ward them off are: reciting Surat Al-Baqarah, especially Ayatul-Kursi and its concluding verses. Similarly, mentioning Allah upon entering the home and before eating prevents Satan from staying overnight and partaking in the food. Among the protective supplications are: "My Lord, I seek refuge in You from the whisperings of the devils," and seeking refuge in the perfect words of Allah from every devil, harmful creature, and evil eye. Continuously reciting: "There is no god but Allah alone, He has no partner. To Him belongs sovereignty and to Him belongs all praise, and He is over all things competent," one hundred times, for it is a protection from Satan. Furthermore, the remembrances (dhikr) for eating, sleeping, waking up, sexual intercourse, entering and exiting the restroom, and entering the home, all provide protection from Satan. Persistently remembering Allah is an impregnable fortress against Satan.
