Should a man refuse to divorce his wife until she is cleared [of wrongdoing], or should he divorce her and grant her all her legitimate rights, or should he leave her to file a lawsuit for divorce due to harm, knowing that this will expose him to problems at his workplace?

To maintain your status, you must distance yourself from sins against Allah and forbidden relationships with foreign women, as these relationships are forbidden, even if they are phone conversations or public meetings. The first thing you must do is repent to Allah and sever your relationship with this woman. As for your wife, she should have exercised patience and offered advice instead of rushing to demand a divorce and threatening scandal, for it was her duty to conceal. After your repentance and severing the relationship, inform your wife of your remorse and your return to Allah, and let her know that it is not permissible for her then to seek a divorce; for the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, warned against that by saying: "Any woman who asks her husband for a divorce without any strong reason, the scent of Paradise will be forbidden to her." If she insists, you may refuse the divorce until she absolves you or seeks a khul' from you.
