Should the Imam, in the Qunut of Calamities, pray for forgiveness and mercy, or with the Qunut supplication: "O Allah, guide us among those whom You have guided"?

The prescribed manner for the supplication of Qunut al-Nawazil (supplication during calamities) is for the supplication to be appropriate for the calamity. Therefore, the usual Qunut supplication, "O Allah, guide us among those whom You have guided," should not be recited. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, supplicated during calamities with supplications that were appropriate for them. He supplicated for the salvation of the oppressed in Mecca and intensified the pressure on the tribes of Arab, Usayya, Dhakwan, and Ri'l. Sheikh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah, the Permanent Committee for Scholarly Research and Ifta', and Sheikh Ibn Uthaymeen were of the view that the supplication in Qunut al-Nawazil should be the supplication appropriate for the specific calamity. And whoever supplicates with the supplication of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, in a way that suits the situation of the Muslims in their calamity, has done well, because it is the best of what can be supplicated with.
