What should a questioner do who married someone she does not love due to family pressure, and had two children with him, and feels aversion towards him due to the absence of feelings for him and because of his actions which she describes as childish, in addition to her feeling of loneliness and lack of support, while an old love remains in her heart?
A wife must live with her husband honorably, banish delusions and satanic instigations that alienate her from him, and fulfill his rights. There is nothing in a husband's request for his wife to wear tight clothes for him in their home that would impugn his masculinity; however, requesting that in front of non-mahram individuals is impermissible. It is the husband's duty to provide for his wife. The emotion of love is not a prerequisite for a stable marital life; rather, marital life is based on care, conscientiousness, and good companionship. If the wife has done her utmost but is unable to live with him honorably, and finds herself averse to him, she may request a divorce or a khul' (divorce for compensation) if she fears she will not be able to fulfill Allah's right in obeying him.
