What is the wisdom behind divorce being in the husband's hand, and what is the ruling on one who divorces his wife without cause?

The fact that divorce is in the husband's hand is just, because he is the one who entered into the marriage contract and he is the maintainer of the woman. Moreover, he is more complete in intellect and farsighted.

As for the ruling on divorce without a reason, divorce is governed by the five rulings: obligatory, forbidden, recommended, disliked, and permissible. The basic principle is that it is undesirable because it dissolves the bond of marriage and may result in harms, such as the disintegration of the family. However, it becomes permissible if there is a need for it due to the inability of the spouses to live together happily. This is from the blessings of Allah to prevent a life of misery.
