Is eating a piece of chicken daily considered a forbidden extravagance?

Extravagance is exceeding the limit in consuming permissible things. Thus, extravagance occurs when something is spent on what is necessary, but in excess of what is needed. Prodigality, on the other hand, is spending on what is not permissible at all. Therefore, eating meat daily is not extravagance unless it is beyond one's need or involves purchasing more than what is needed. The story of 'Umar ibn al-Khattab with his son 'Abdullah and Jabir, where he disapproved of their purchasing meat, does not indicate extravagance. Rather, it was out of fear of hastening the delights of the Hereafter in this worldly life, citing the verse: "You have exhausted your good things in your worldly life and enjoyed them."
