What is the ruling on "tahneek" for a newborn, and is it sufficient to give in charity an amount equivalent to the weight of the newborn's hair in gold or silver without shaving it?

The tahnik of a newborn is a confirmed Sunnah based on the action of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him. It should be performed by people of virtue and righteousness to seek blessings. As for giving charity equivalent to the weight of the newborn's hair without shaving it, this goes against the command of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, who ordered the shaving of the newborn's head and giving charity in silver equivalent to the weight of the hair. A believer must follow the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, in every legislation.
