Who are the "Siddiqeen" (the truthful/righteous) mentioned in the verse from Surat An-Nisa (Chapter of Women)? Is the rank of Siddiqiya (truthfulness/righteousness) restricted to specific individuals, or can any believer attain it until the Day of Judgment? Have scholars interpreted "Siddiqeen" as referring to scholars, and are they of a higher rank than martyrs? What is the scholars' view regarding the preference between scholars and mujahideen (those who strive in the path of Allah)? Are the "Saliheen" (the righteous) the general body of believers who are not prophets, Siddiqeen, or martyrs, or do general believers hold a lower rank than the Saliheen?

The rank of Siddiqiyyah (truthfulness/sainthood) remains, and is not restricted to the generation of the Companions and the Righteous Predecessors. So, whoever acts as they acted, follows their path, and adheres to their Sunnah, is of them. And whoever dies upon the two Shahadas (declarations of faith), performs the five daily prayers, fasts and prays during Ramadan, and pays Zakat, is among the Siddiqeen (truthful ones) and the Shuhada (martyrs). The truthful and trustworthy merchant is with the Prophets, the Siddiqeen, and the Shuhada.

The interpretation of the Siddiqeen as scholars has been indicated by some scholars, who state that the Siddiqeen are the practicing scholars. Thus, whoever has more knowledge of what the Messenger brought and has more perfect affirmation of it, has more complete Siddiqiyyah.

The preference between scholars and martyrs depends on the realization of the quality of Siddiqiyyah. The one who has attained it is superior, and if they are equal in Siddiqiyyah, they are equal in rank.

The righteous (Salihun) are those who obey Allah the Almighty, but have not reached the rank of Siddiqiyyah and martyrdom. This term applies to anyone whose inner and outer states are righteous.
