Is performing ablution after eating camel meat still practiced in Medina, and how did this ruling escape the notice of Imam Malik and Imam Shafi'i, especially since Malik's school of thought is based on the practice of the people of Medina?

The difference of opinion regarding the nullification of ablution (wudu') by eating camel meat is an ancient and modern one. It is the view of Imam Ahmad and those who agreed with him, whereas the majority held that it does not nullify ablution, including the four Caliphs, Malik, Abu Hanifa, and Al-Shafi'i. Those who held the view of nullification argued using the two hadiths of Jabir ibn Samurah and Al-Bara'. The response to this was that these are specific hadiths, which are given precedence over general hadiths that state that one does not need to perform ablution from what has been touched by fire. Al-Bayhaqi authenticated the two hadiths of Jabir and Al-Bara', and Al-Shafi'i stated that he would adopt them if they were authenticated.
