How should prayer be handled when its time has passed due to compelling circumstances, such as being preoccupied with a sick child or facing difficulties in completing a transaction? Is it permissible to delay prayer in such cases, or when going out with someone who causes the time of a prayer to be missed? Is the Maghrib prayer accepted if it is performed after the time for the Isha prayer has begun under such circumstances?

A Muslim must prioritize prayer and performing it on time. If one is in a place from which they cannot leave, such as a doctor's clinic or a government office, they should pray where they are, because the entire earth is a mosque for this Ummah. If performing the prayer on time becomes difficult, and it is one of the prayers that can be combined with the following prayer by delaying it (such as Dhuhr with Asr, and Maghrib with Isha), then some scholars have permitted combining prayers due to hardship. This is the maximum concession allowed for a Muslim. As for neglecting prayer and performing it outside its prescribed time without an excuse, it is one of the greatest major sins. If the Maghrib prayer was performed outside its time without an excuse, then those who did so have sinned, and the prayer is valid, but sincere repentance is incumbent upon them. If they had an excuse that permitted delaying the combination, they should have intended to combine the two prayers at the time of the first prayer. If they had no excuse, they should have prayed within the prescribed time.
