Are we sinful if we wear clothes that reach below the ankles, such as those people wear today, given the hadith that prohibits "isbal" (allowing one's garment to hang below the ankles)?

There are Hadith that prohibit the lengthening of garments (isbal), among them "Whatever is below the ankles is in the Fire," which applies to all types of clothing. As for what is above the ankles, it is permissible, according to the Hadith: "The izar (lower garment) of a believer is to mid-calf, and there is no sin in what is between it and the ankles." Scholars differed on whether the prohibition of isbal is restricted to cases of pride (khuyala') or is absolute, with the majority holding that it is restricted to cases of pride.
