Is it permissible for a woman to cut her hair to shoulder length and have it falling over her face, and is this considered makruh (disliked) or haram (forbidden)?
That which is unlawful (haram) is what Allah and His Messenger have forbidden, and that which is lawful (halal) is what Allah and His Messenger have permitted. That about which He remained silent is pardoned. It is not permissible for anyone to speak concerning the Sharia of Allah except with a legal proof, either from a text in the Book (Quran) and Sunnah, or from an established consensus (Ijma'), or a sound analogy (Qiyas). There is no harm for a woman to style her hair however she wishes, as long as she does not imitate men, or intend to imitate disbelieving or immoral women.
