Does a sheep rejoice at its slaughter?
Allah created humans for His worship and to honor them. He subjugated the universe, with its animals and plants, for them to benefit from in their affairs and interests. He made lawful for them the slaughter of livestock. It does not matter whether animals rejoice or grieve when slaughtered, as long as Allah has permitted it. In return for this honor, Allah entrusted humans with a trust that prohibits them from torturing animals or killing them unnecessarily. Rather, He commanded them to treat animals kindly, even during slaughter, in fulfillment of His صلى الله عليه وسلم saying: "Indeed, Allah has prescribed excellence in all things. So, if you kill, then kill well; and if you slaughter, then slaughter well. Let each one of you sharpen his blade and relieve his animal."
