Is it permissible for the Messenger of Allah, may Allah's prayers and peace be upon him, to combine two prayers (Dhuhr and Asr, or Maghrib and Isha) in his home during rain?

The majority of jurists hold the permissibility of combining Maghrib and Isha prayers due to rain that soaks clothes, snow, and hail. As for Dhuhr and Asr, combining them for the same reason is not permissible according to the Maliki and Hanbali schools, while the Shafi'i school permits it. The Malikis stipulate congregational prayer for the validity of combining, whereas the Hanbalis permit combining for both individuals praying alone and those in congregation.
