How can one prevent others from ill-treatment and lack of etiquette without incurring the sin of ostracism, especially when exposed to repeated harm and abandonment without reason, while maintaining forgiveness and suppressing anger?

Forgiveness and pardon are characteristics of the noble; they increase their possessor in might and elevation in this world and the Hereafter, and transform animosity into affection. Pardoning people brings about forgiveness from Allah. The verses have clarified that "whoever pardons and makes reconciliation - his reward is due from Allah," and that "pardon is nearer to righteousness." If it is known that pardon does not lead to reform but rather increases evil, then it is permissible to retaliate in kind with the intention of reform. If they shunned the questioner without any shortcoming on his part, there is no sin upon him, and it is permissible to shun those who cause harm to the extent that it deters them.
