What is the ruling on reciting the word "sajdah" during the recitation of the Holy Quran? Thank you.

The majority of scholars hold that the prostration of recitation (Sujud al-Tilawah) is Sunnah for both the reciter and the listener, based on the practice of Umar ibn al-Khattab, may Allah be pleased with him. Among the manners of the prostration of recitation is that a Muslim performs a single prostration, says "Allahu Akbar" when lowering and rising, and says in his prostration: "My face has prostrated to the One who created it, fashioned it, and gave it hearing and sight by His might and power. Blessed be Allah, the best of creators." It is more complete for the prostrator to be in a state of purity (tahir) and facing the Qiblah.
