Am I permitted to leave my country and travel abroad to escape my psychological and physical problems resulting from a previous relationship with a girl, knowing that I cannot protect myself or the girl if I marry her?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

The relationship of love between young men and women is not sanctioned by the Sharia, and what is permissible for someone who is attracted to a girl is to propose to her through her guardian. If you repent from the impermissible conversations that took place between you and that girl, then you must adhere to that repentance. If you are able to marry and the girl is religious, then go ahead and propose to her; there is no need to leave your country. Beware of the devil's cunning, and be keen on what benefits you in your religion and worldly life, for the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Be keen on what benefits you, seek help from Allah, and do not be helpless." A person's strength lies in their faith in Allah and their adherence to His law, and "Safeguard Allah, and He will safeguard you." You must strengthen your connection with your Lord by maintaining prayers in mosques, attending gatherings of knowledge and remembrance, and associating with the righteous, while seeking help from Allah and frequently engaging in remembrance and supplication.
