Will men and women be equally punished on the Day of Judgment for denying good companionship?

The Lawgiver (Allah) commanded reciprocating good with good and condemned ingratitude for blessings, in accordance with His, the Almighty's, saying: ﴿Is the recompense for good anything but good?﴾ [Ar-Rahman: 60], and the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "And whoever does you a favor, then reciprocate it. If you cannot find anything to reciprocate with, then supplicate for him until you know that you have reciprocated him." This applies to both men and women.

A husband is enjoined to be good to his wife and to reward her for her service, and the mother is reminded that obedience to the husband is for the sake of Allah the Almighty, and it is a cause for entering Paradise. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "If a woman prays her five (daily prayers), fasts her month (Ramadan), guards her chastity, and obeys her husband, it will be said to her: 'Enter Paradise from whichever of its gates you wish.'"

The husband is also enjoined to treat women kindly, for the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Treat women kindly, for they were created from a rib," and "The best of you are those who are best to their families, and I am the best of you to my family." If a wife fulfills her duty and her husband curses her, his curse is an transgression and does not affect her.
