The question

Is a young man considered disobedient to his grandmother and his parents, and does he deserve God's wrath in this world and the hereafter, if he completes his marriage to a girl rejected by his grandmother due to her old age and previous marriage, knowing that she raised him after his mother's death?

The answer

A grandmother is equivalent to a mother in terms of dutifulness. If her refusal of her grandson's marriage to you has no legitimate religious justification, he should strive to convince her and seek help from Allah, then from those who can intercede with her. If she insists, the ruling on marriage despite parental opposition has already been clarified. We hope that her anger will not afflict him if his insistence on his right is legitimate. If he chooses to appease her and forgo marrying you, do not despair. Entrust your affair to Allah and ask Him for a righteous husband, for "it may be that you hate a thing and it is good for you, and it may be that you love a thing and it is bad for you. Allah knows, and you know not." Ibn Baz was asked about a grandfather's refusal of his grandson's marriage, and he replied that it is preferable to leave them for the sake of the grandfather's feelings and as a sign of dutifulness towards him, perhaps there is good in that, for people and women are many. We highlight that a woman's advanced age or previous marriage is not a religious impediment to marriage.
