What is the soul's inclination, and does it include worldly desires such as money, music, and immodesty? And what is the ruling on using imagination for permissible matters as if they were reality, such as a woman imagining herself as a housewife?

The desire of the soul is what it inclines towards and craves, and it is often contrary to Islamic law. This includes listening to music, displaying adornment (تبرج), and craving money in ways not permissible by Sharia. Restraining the soul from its desires is a cause for its happiness and entry into Paradise, as Allah Almighty says: "But as for him who feared the standing before his Lord, and restrained himself from impure evil desires, and lusts. Verily, Paradise will be his abode." (Quran 79:40-41) The Quran and Sunnah have condemned following desires because it leads to rejecting the truth and to perdition. Allah Almighty says: "But if they do not respond to you, then know that they are only following their [own] desires." (Quran 28:50) And the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "And three are destructive: a desire that is followed, a stinginess that is obeyed, and a man's admiration of himself." As for pure souls, their desires are subservient to Islamic law, as the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "None of you truly believes until his desire is subservient to what I have brought." Wishing for permissible matters is allowed as long as it does not relate to others or lead to envy and mutual hatred.
