What is the religious ruling regarding a man from whom his wife seeks divorce after discovering his practice of sodomy, and he then tries to reconcile with her? And is his repentance accepted?

Sodomy is a heinous crime that sound human nature abhors. Scriptural texts have condemned it and clarified the punishment for its perpetrators. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Whoever you find committing the act of the people of Lut, kill the one who does it and the one to whom it is done."

It is forbidden to accuse people of this abomination without clear evidence, such as eyewitnessing or confession, and not based on mere suspicion and conjecture.

It was incumbent upon the wife's family to offer the husband repentance and accept his apology if his sincerity was proven.

A divorce pronounced under duress does not take effect if the duress was compelling.

The husband must repent of this heinous act by abandoning it, regretting it, and resolving not to return to it. The wife should return to her husband if she knows his repentance is sincere.
