Is it permissible for a bedridden, disabled person to pray at home?

A sick person is excused from attending Friday prayers and congregational prayers if it causes them hardship. Scholars have adduced as proof for this the Almighty’s saying: ﴿So fear Allah as much as you are able﴾, and His saying: ﴿Allah does not charge a soul except [with that within] its capacity﴾, and His saying: ﴿There is not upon the blind [any] hardship nor upon the lame any hardship nor upon the ill any hardship﴾. They also cite the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, who said: "When I command you to do something, do as much of it as you can." The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, himself absented himself from the congregation when he was ill. Ibn Mas'ud also said: "Indeed, we used to see ourselves [at the time of the Prophet], and no one would stay away from prayer except a hypocrite whose hypocrisy was known, or a sick person."
