You should not argue with your father to the point of angering him, nor should you swear an oath regarding a disputed matter. Playing the Quran where it is not listened to is disliked. However, if there are listeners, then the preoccupation of some does not harm. The listener should be present in heart, attentive, and reflective. Playing the Quran when sleeping or in shops is permissible and has merit, but it is better for a person to recite it themselves.
