What should a girl do if she wishes to marry a young man of good character and religious commitment, but her family objects because he does not own a house or a car?

A guardian should not reject a suitor who is competent in his religion and character on the pretext that he does not own a house or a car. It is advised to supplicate and seek help from some virtuous people to convince the family. If the guardian is not convinced, the woman has the right to refer the matter to the Sharia judge to arrange her marriage. Also, the girl's patience and dutifulness to her parents, and her foregoing marriage to him, may be better for her, for Allah Almighty says: "But perhaps you hate a thing and it is good for you; and perhaps you love a thing and it is bad for you. And Allah Knows, while you know not."
