The question

Would a girl accept to be associated with a committed young man and feel psychologically comfortable with him, despite his family's initial rejection of her and her family's discomfort with his family due to the apartment being in a cramped family home, and the groom's family's exaggeration in their demands, which complicated matters, then the young man returned to propose to her and refused to change the apartment, and she is now hesitant?

The answer

The fundamental principle is for the woman's guardians to marry her to a suitor who possesses good character and religious commitment, as the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "If someone whose religious commitment and character you approve comes to you seeking marriage, then marry him. If you do not do so, there will be tribulation on earth and widespread corruption."

The girl has the right to stipulate a separate residence if she is harmed by living in the family home. The husband is obliged to fulfill this condition, for the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Muslims are bound by their conditions." If he does not comply, she has the right to refuse the marriage.

As for the dowry, extravagance in it is relative and subject to the customs of the country and the circumstances of the couple. The guidance of Islam is to facilitate dowries.
