Is it permissible to listen to the Holy Quran or to supplicate in chat rooms frequented by many people?

The predominant nature of online conversations is that they are accompanied by disobedience to Allah, especially between young men and women, and one must repent from them. It is not permissible to listen to the Qur’an or supplications and remembrances (adhkar) during these conversations, as it involves disrespecting the name of Allah and His verses. Even if the conversations are free from sin, one should not play the Qur’an or supplications while being heedless of pondering over them, because the Sharia encourages listening attentively to the Qur’an and pondering over it, due to His (Allah's) saying: "And when the Qur’an is recited, then listen to it and pay attention that you may receive mercy," and His saying: "A Book We have sent down to you, full of blessing, that they may ponder over its verses, and that those of understanding may remember."
