Did the Prophet (peace be upon him) ever forbid a man from praying for the sake of work, or did he tell him: "Work and do not pray"?

We have learned and it has been authentically reported from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, the encouragement to pray, to be diligent in it, and to prioritize it. It is not authentic that he forbade it or commanded prioritizing work over it, except in cases that would diminish one's humility (khushu') in prayer. Prayer is a means of sustenance and an aid in fulfilling needs, as Allah Almighty said: "O you who have believed, seek help through patience and prayer. Indeed, Allah is with the patient," and His saying: "And enjoin prayer upon your family [and people] and be steadfast therein. We ask you not for provision; We provide for you, and the [best] outcome is for righteousness." So, whoever establishes prayer will receive sustenance from where he does not expect.
