Is it true that God tests a wealthy believer due to the abundance of his faith?

This statement is incorrect, for everything in this life—good and evil, wealth and poverty, health and illness—is a trial and test from Allah Almighty, in accordance with His saying: {And We test you with evil and good as a trial; and to Us you will be returned}. And the testing of a servant with wealth does not indicate the strength of his faith or the correctness of his religion, for many transgressors and hypocrites possess wealth, health, and prestige.
