What is the meaning of the Hadith: "By the One in Whose hand is the soul of Muhammad, no soul will die until it has completed its provision. So fear Allah and be graceful in seeking, and let not the delay in provision lead you to seek it in disobedience to Allah, for what is with Allah cannot be obtained except through obedience to Him. The pens have been lifted and the scrolls have dried"?

The two aforementioned hadiths are authentic. The first was narrated by Al-Tabarani and authenticated by Al-Albani. The second is a part of a hadith narrated by Ibn Abbas, recorded by Ahmad and Al-Tirmidhi, and authenticated by Al-Albani. The meaning of the first is that provision (rizq) and lifespan (ajal) are predetermined, so one should not rush, overexert themselves, or doubt Allah's promise. Instead, we should seek provision through lawful means without committing sins. The meaning of the second, "The pens have been lifted and the pages have dried," is a metaphor indicating that all destinies have been written and finalized long ago.
