The answer

If someone desires something, they should implore Allah persistently with supplication. It is recommended to precede their supplication with good deeds such as reading the Quran, remembrance (dhikr), prayer (salat), and charity (sadaqah); for that is more likely to result in their supplication being answered. Reading the Quran is one of the greatest acts of worship. However, singling out specific verses for reasons for which there is no textual evidence, such as calming a child, controlling a worker, or stopping bleeding, has no basis in the guidance of the Prophet (peace be upon him). Such an act is considered an added innovation (bid'ah idafiyyah).
