Is lineage equality a prerequisite for marriage, and is it permissible for a person of Yemeni tribal origin to marry into a Hashemite (Sayyid) family?

The recognized compatibility (kafa'ah) in marriage is based on religious commitment and character, as Allah Almighty says: "And a believing slave is better than a polytheist, even though he might please you." And the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "If there comes to you one whose religious commitment and character you approve, then marry him. If you do not do so, there will be tribulation on earth and widespread corruption."

Bilal ibn Rabah married the sister of Abd al-Rahman ibn Awf, and Salim married Hind bint al-Walid ibn Utbah, and Al-Miqdad ibn Amr married Daba'ah bint al-Zubayr, which confirms that the basis for marriage is religious commitment and character.

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) clarified that lineages are not a cause for disparagement, and that superiority is based on religious commitment and piety, as stated in the hadith: "No one has superiority over another except through religious commitment or piety."

Regarding the choice of a wife, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) advised choosing a religious woman, saying: "A woman is married for four things: for her wealth, for her lineage, for her beauty, and for her religious commitment. So choose the one who is religiously committed, and you will prosper." Therefore, a Muslim should fear Allah and choose the righteous and devout.
