Is it obligatory to provide the dowry (mahr) and initial marriage expenses for one who wishes to marry for the sake of chastity (al-str), knowing that this might entail a temporary form of frugality upon oneself?

If a person fears falling into the unlawful, he must hasten to marry whenever he is able. If he does not have the means for marriage, but is able to acquire them without great difficulty, then it appears to be obligatory for him.

Some scholars have mentioned that whoever is able to marry should marry, even if he fears being unable to provide financially after marriage.

Until marriage becomes possible, one must be patient and practice chastity.
