Are devils and sorcerers restrained during the month of Ramadan?

Yes, devils may whisper to humans and sorcerers may practice magic in Ramadan, but this is less frequent than in other months. It has been authentically reported that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “When Ramadan begins, the gates of Paradise are opened, the gates of Hell are closed, and the devils are chained.” This does not mean that the influence of devils ceases entirely, but rather indicates their weakness in Ramadan. Perhaps only the rebellious devils are chained, not all of them. Al-Qurtubi mentioned that evils decrease for those who fast and have observed the conditions and etiquette of fasting, and that the intent is to reduce evils during it, which is a palpable matter. The chaining of devils does not necessitate the absence of evil, due to the existence of other causes such as malevolent souls, bad habits, and human devils.
