Is it permissible to return to working in hotels that serve alcohol and forbidden things, or to obtain an interest-based loan to establish a project, when there are no other job opportunities and this affects the family?
It is not permissible to work in hotels that serve alcohol or where forbidden acts are committed, because that constitutes aiding in sin and endorsing evil. Allah Almighty said: "And cooperate in righteousness and piety, but do not cooperate in sin and aggression." The sin increases if the worker directly serves alcohol, due to the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "Allah has cursed alcohol, its drinker, its server, its seller, its buyer, its presser, the one for whom it is pressed, its carrier, and the one to whom it is carried."
Similarly, it is not permissible to take an interest-bearing loan unless there is a dire necessity that cannot be averted except by it. It is advised to fear Allah and rely upon Him, and to pursue lawful means of livelihood such as trade and Mudarabah (a form of partnership).
