Is it permissible to postpone Hajj until next year due to its timing coinciding with university exams?

Hajj is obligatory immediately and it is not permissible to delay it except for a legitimate excuse. If Hajj affects the student's exams, then it is permissible for him to delay it until the following year. It is better for him to take his lessons with him, delay his departure for Hajj, and hasten during the days of ramy (stoning), so Hajj will only take a few days. The diligent person who relies on Allah can perform Hajj without it negatively affecting him.
