Is it permissible for a husband to beat his wife without prior admonition or abandonment, and is the woman so debased in Islam to this extent, and why did the Prophet (peace be upon him) not rebuke Safwan ibn al-Mu'attal for praying Fajr after sunrise?

Scholars have differed on the authenticity of the hadith: "By Allah, I have never uncovered the private parts of a female, ever." However, assuming its authenticity, it does not contain an insult to women. Rather, it serves as a reminder to prioritize the husband's right to intimacy over a wife's voluntary prayers and fasting.

The preponderant opinion is that the permitted beating of a woman should only occur after admonition and abandonment prove ineffective, and it must be non-violent, avoiding the face and dangerous areas. It is disliked to use a whip or wood. Nevertheless, refraining from beating, even when permissible, is better.

As for the Prophet's (peace be upon him) not reprimanding Safwan for sleeping through the morning prayer, it was said that this meant his delay until close to sunrise. It was also said that he was in a state similar to being unconscious, and thus excused.
